Bad Weather

relentless rain in the desert
and my planter box is butted up
against the back bedroom wall
(seems there's a crack
that's letting all the outside in)

my computer screen
creates a tunnel of light
in the way too dark bedroom
and between that and the too loud rain
i doubt i'll ever fall asleep

i'm uneasy with all this contentment

my drama-less life sits mocking me
there's a husband tossing at my side
poor soul
at least he's able to sleep through
all this happiness

nothing seems possible at 3:55am

suppose i should go to bed earlier
