|KJ's Life Experiment||
've been experimenting with the Diva Cup for a few months now, and here I give you an overview of what I like about it, and what I find...well...challenging:-) If you are someone who doesn't enjoy frank conversations about vaginas, menstruation, etc. probably not the best video for you to watch...but if you are looking for a more earth friendly, health friendly alternative to mainstream tampons (and pads) this could be your solution.
The real experiment in this video is using my Voice Over function for the first time..:-) This How To video gives you an idea of how I use quinoa as a breakfast...the recipe is ridiculously easy, especially if you have a rice cooker (if you don't, just use a pot on the stove top). And if you try this for yourself, feel free to experiment with your favourite fruits/nuts/seeds/seasonings/sweeteners. This will give you a very quick example of the one I made the other day.
The first time using the new Cuisinart food processor my brother got me for Christmas. As an easy first recipe, I attempt to make my version of a Larabar...which end up being LaraBALLS:)
1 3/4 cup dates
1/2 cup cashews
1/2 cup almonds
1/2 cup unsweetened shredded coconut
1 TB coconut oil
dash of vanilla

Wanna see me lose my Neti Pot virginity? I've wanted to try sinus flushing for a long time now, but been very nervous. Well, I finally bit the bullet and did it! If you are looking for a natural, gentle way to overcome sinus congestion or cold related symptoms, do your research, talk to a health care professional if you have a severe or complicated history of ear/nose/throat issues, and if it all pans out - try it! It's not as daunting as it looks:)
Mainstream toothpaste is filled with junk. That can't come as a big surprise. Even "healthier" versions in the stores add in tons of ingredients that none of us recognize. So, if you've been looking for a way to clean your teeth, detox your body via your mouth, whiten your teeth (and save a bunch of money) look no further! My new favourite homemade whole foods toothpaste! Let me know in the comments below if you try it, and what you think...or if you have other homemade natural recipes for toothpaste I should try out:)
These sugar free, super easy peanut butter cookies are our gift to you this Christmas! These turned out GREAT, and are guilt free...not to mention ridiculously easy to make...
- 1 cup All Natural Peanut Butter (or any other nut butter)
- 1/2 cup Xylitol
- 1 local free range egg
- cacao nibs to top (optional)
C is for COOKIE! Merry Christmas:)
I'll be honest with you, besides my green smoothies, I don't really eat a ton a vegan recipes. But one day I came up with this super simple dish, and it completely exceeded my expectations. Even my mother - who normally isn't into this kind of thing - LOVED it when I made it for her. Something about the hot sweet mixed with the cold crunchy...and coconut oil and sea salt make everything taste good:-)
- sweet potatoe
- red cabbage
- coconut oil
- sea salt

Over a week ago, my cousin Leanne posted a thread of Facebook about having tried coconut water, and it tasting awful. It began a convo about how not all coconut water is created equal, and MUCH of the coconut water out there (especially the ones in main stream grocery stores) taste terrible. So....which coconut water is the best? I invited my hubby to join me and try out five different kinds of coconut water, then, without knowing the brands, rate them from 1 to 5.
The brands of coconut water that we used:
- water from a real Thai coconut
- Blue Monkey
- Taste Nirvana
- Dr Antonio Martin's Coco Juice
AHHHHHHGGG! For the longest time, I've been experimenting with everything imaginable to get my whites white. In this video, I try yet another, eco-friendly method, discovered on Pinterest to see if it works for me. Let's consider this video a cry for help. HELP! Leave me your suggestions, detailed methods or tricks of the trade in the comments below.
My husband is too adorable not to feature in a couple videos...and when he begged "do an episode on the HOT CHOCOLATE" I decided his enthusiasm about the subject matter was what this vlog needed. So, if you are looking for something to sip on this holiday season, but don't want the blood sugar spike or the belly fat, let Leon help you!
- Raw Cacao
- Unsweetened Almond Milk (or heavy cream)
- Stevia (flavoured if you like...ours was Hazelnut Cream)
- Hot Water
