Spoken Word performance is quickly becoming one of my favourite, new performing arts. I secretly hope to one day write and perform something of my own...but until that happens, I thought I would share a few of my top picks from other artists...
1. Charles Hamilton - Saskatoon, A Love Letter
It can't be surprising that I would connect with this piece. This man sums up beautifully the love/hate relationship I have with Moose Jaw/Regina/Saskatchewan. The first time I watched this it actually made me cry:)
2. Katie Makkai - Pretty
Whether or not you were considered pretty or not-pretty-enough, if you are or were ever a girl, you'll appreciate this piece. I know I did - and the end part inspired me as a possible, one day parent.
3. Chris Tse - I'm Sorry I'm A Christian
I'll admit, when I first clicked this link, I was not sure what I would get. Having been raised in the Bible Belt surrounded by Christians, I sorta assumed this spoken word piece might be more of a church-related, preachy thing. But take a listen...you'll see why I was pleasantly surprised, and completely enamored.
